Emmaus Banner

It's been such a long wait -- so it's very exciting to announce that we are having a Gathering this month on TUESDAY, JUNE 29! I realize this is a little off from our normal schedule, but it's a starting point.

Music will begin at 6:45 PM, with the service starting at 7:00 PM. There will be no fellowship meal afterwards, and no child care will be provided, but children are welcome to worship with us as always.

If you have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, you may choose to be mask-less for the Gathering; if you are not fully vaccinated, we respectfully encourage you to consider wearing a mask out of consideration for others. Either way -- by all means, join us!

This is an important Gathering as we will be electing new leadership for our Community. The service terms for the Community Lay Director and the Leadership Chairperson ended at the end of last year; however, the pandemic delayed our vote for the next persons to fill these roles. Kirk Paisley and Tracy Van Winkle have humbly accepted the nominations by the board to be considered for these positions. Please be in prayer for these folks as you consider who you will vote for as the new Community Lay Director and Leadership Chairperson.

On a separate note, as you may be aware, the New-Ark Area Emmaus Community is a non-profit organization, but we do have several fixed expenses that we need to cover whether or not we have Walks. These inlcude such things as the required liability insurance, music licensing, and technology assets needed to support our online communications.

Since we haven't had a Walk for quite some time (over 2 years), our operating capital has diminished significantly. That being said, we will be taking an offering at this month's Gathering to help cover some of these costs. We are asking that, as you are able, please consider a generous donation to help move things forward as we start to plan upcoming Walks.

Whether or not you can donate isn't the important thing; the most important thing is that you come worship with us as the New-Ark Area Emmaus Community, and help determine our new leadership. I so look forward to seeing you all again!

God Bless! De Colores!

Rick Newell, Community Lay Director
